ATTENTION ALL ARTHRITIS
SUFFERERS!
In the USA 16,500 people die every year from
drugs prescribed
for Arthritic pain and inflammation. In Britain the number is
around
2000 deaths every year. These NSAIDs, (non-steroidal,
anti-inflammatory drugs), which include ibuprofen and aspirin,
kill pain effectively, but irritate the stomach lining in some
patients,
causing ulcers and bleeding. Severe cases may lead to death.
DO NOT BECOME A STATISTIC. Check out a treatment
that stops Arthritic pain and repairs cartilage, even as it
acts on the cause of the disease.

FROM THE HEART: A
note from Jay & Roshmi
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello ,
How do you wake to a brand new day?
Do you spring out of bed without a thought, drag
yourself up feeling sleep-deprived or take this opportunity
to think and reflect a bit?
The reason I'm asking is that the manner of your
waking is going to colour your entire day. And, yes, there are
ways you can improve it!
The very worst thing you can do, on waking, is
to turn over and go back to sleep. If you do that, your whole
day is shot! It will leave you fuzzy-headed and bleary-eyed
when you do eventually wake up the 2nd time around!
Instead, use that period between complete and
semi wakefulness to ensure that the rest of the day is relaxed
and fruitful.
There are some physical things you can do, and
some mental!
Focus on something that is important to you. It
could be an affirmation about yourself (if you're trying to
break, or form, a habit this is the time for a prompt to yourself).
You may choose to connect with a person close to you. Or use
the time to plan and prioritise the must-dos scheduled for the
day.
The physical tweaking comes next.
Have you seen a cat or dog when it awakes? What
does it do? It stretches itself first, before it does anything
else! Imitate it's actions, and s--t--r--e--t--c--h!
Stretch both arms back as far as they will go,
while you are lying flat on your back. While you do so, stretch
your legs downwards, pointing your toes, as if trying to touch
the foot of your bed. Hold your body taut at the extreme stretch-point
for a count of 20, then let it go limp. If you do this consciously,
every day, for the next 2/3 weeks, it will become a habit. You'll
find yourself replicating these animal-like movements on waking,
without thought or conscious effort. And, as you do so, you'll
be flooded with a sense of well-being!
Hold it! It's not time to get up as yet.
Still lying flat on your back with legs stretched
straight out, take a deep, deep breath. While doing so bend
your feet backwards (towards you) from the ankles. You'll feel
a stretch on your heels and on the backs of your calves. Intensify
that stretch, by bending the ankle a bit more. Exhale, and as
you do so point your feet downwards and try to touch the bed.
The tension in your calves and your instep means that your muscles
are working. Repeat this set of movements 5 times, co-ordinating
it with your breathing.
Next, rotate your feet, from the ankle, first
clockwise, then anti-clockwise. Five times each way is enough.
Take a deep breath in and breathe out. You should
now be ready to face the day (unless it's one of those mornings
after the night before!)
And, now that you're out of bed, activate your
power centers and release those mood-enhancing endorphins by
going into the Tibetan Technique exercise regimen.
To your health,
Jay & Roshmi
mailto:toyourhealthletter@yahoo.com
PS: When apart, as we are now, Roshmi and I use
the semi-awake period to connect mentally with each other. It
seems to work for us even though our time zones don't synchronize.
(We do use other more conventional modes of communication as
well!)

FEATURE ARTICLE: by Jeremy
Laurance (from 'The Independent', UK)
BREAKING THE SILENCE
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[[Breast cancer also affects men. But they often feel too embarrassed
to seek help. Now researchers are trying to raise awareness,
says Jeremy Laurance, Health Editor, The Independent, U.K.]
The lump was spotted, surgery performed and breast cancer was
confirmed. Then the problems began for the patient, 52-year-old
father of five, Mike Down. The surgeons said he would have to
have a mastectomy, but he did not know what that would mean
for a man. Mr Down is one of the 200 to 300 men who develop
breast cancer in the UK each year, and he quickly discovered
that all treatment and advice available for breast cancer is
geared towards women. There was nothing for men.
"They said that to do stretching exercises after
surgery I should brush my hair every morning. But I don't have
any," says the bald Mr Down.

LITTLE ACTIONS THAT PRODUCE
BIG RESULTS: MISTING
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Spray your face with mists to revitalize the complexion.
Mists are particularly effective in any situation
that strips the skin of it's natural moisture! Dry or windy
weather, winter, post-exercise, travel... all such situations
that dry you out.
They can be used also to 'set' make-up, and for
extra hydration after moisturizing. Or simply, to refresh oneself!
According to Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system
of holistic health, misting sprays should be made from pure
water treated with gems or precious metals.
Gold, silver and copper are the recommended metals,
(and it's a way of
putting to use any spare gold you have lying around.)
-
For Dry & Normal Skins use gold water
-
For Oily skins use silver water
-
For Mature skins use gold or copper water
Boil the appropriate metal in an enamel or glass pan of water
till the liquid is reduced to half its original quantity.(Use
a heavy gold ring for 1 pint of water). Wait till it cools before
you use it as a spray mist!

weight
*Breakfast off cereals based on wheat bran,
barley and oats
*Have "Grainy" breads made with whole seeds
*Replace potatoes with pasta and rice
*Vinegar and lemon juice dressings
* Include lentil, beans and pulses in your daily diet
The everyday Indian diet includes a 'daal',
a lentil stew, as part of every meal!
Daals can come in hundreds of guises,
from the humdrum to the eclectic. But
each is a power pack abrim with

REVIEW OF OUR ENVIRONMENT:
Older Women
Reviewed by Andy Rooney
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As
I grow in age, I value older women most of all.
Here are just a few reasons why:
An older woman will never
wake you in the middle of the night to ask,
"What are you thinking?" She doesn't care what you think. An older
woman knows herself well enough to be assured in who she is, what
she is, what she wants and from whom. Few women past the age of
50 give a damn what you might think about her.
An older single woman usually
has had her fill of meaningful relationships and commitment. The
last thing she needs in her life is another dopey, clingy, whiny,
dependent lover.
Older women are dignified,
they seldom have a screaming match with you at the opera or in
the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you deserve
it, they won't hesitate to shoot you if they think they can get
away with it.
Most older women cook well.
They care about cleanliness and are generous with praise, often
undeserved.
An older woman has the self-assurance
to introduce you to her women friends. A younger woman with a
man will often ignore even her best friend because she doesn't
trust the guy with other women. Older women couldn't care less.
Women get psychic as they
age. You never have to confess your sins to an older woman. They
always know.
An older woman looks good
wearing bright red lipstick. This is not true of younger women
or drag queens.
Once you get past a wrinkle
or two, an older woman is far sexier than her younger counterpart.
Her libido's stronger, her fear of pregnancy gone. Her experience
of lovemaking is honed and reciprocal and she's lived long enough
to know how to please a man in ways her daughter could never dream
of. (Young men, you have something to look forward to.)
Older women are forthright
and honest. They'll tell you right off you are a jerk if you are
acting like one.
Yes, we praise older women
for a multitude of reasons. Unfortunately, it's not reciprocal.
For every stunning, smart, well-coifed babe of 50 there is a bald,
paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of himself with some
22-year-old waitress.
Ladies, I apologize for all
of us. That men are genetically inferior is no secret. Count your
blessings that we die off at a far younger age, leaving you the
best part of your lives to appreciate the exquisite woman you've
become, without the distraction of some demanding old man clinging
and whining his way into your serenity.

MESSAGE: PRIMARY PERITONEAL
CANCER: KATHY'S STORY
From: Kathy of Winnipeg, Canada
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[A deep debt of gratitude is owed to "Kathy" of
Winnipeg, Ca for sharing her story so that others will not have
to go through what she experienced.
The word to the wise here is that each one of us
absolutely must take control of our own health.]
This is Kathy's Story:
I have Primary Peritoneal Cancer. This cancer has
only recently been identified as its OWN type of cancer; but it
is, essentially, Ovarian Cancer.
Both types of cancer are diagnosed in the same way
(with the "tumor marker" CA-125 blood test),and they are treated
in the same way (surgery to remove the primary tumor and then
chemotherapy with Taxol and Carboplatin).
Having gone through this ordeal, I want to save
others from the same fate. That is why I am sending this message
to you and hope you will print it and give it or send it via e-mail
to everybody you know.
One thing I have learned is that each of us must
take TOTAL responsibility for our own health care. I thought I
had done that because I always had an annual physical, had my
annual mammogram and PAP smear, did monthly Self-Breast Exam,
went to the dentist at least twice a year, etc. I even insisted
on a sigmoidoscopy and a bone density test last year.
When I had a total hysterectomy in 1993, I thought
that I did not have to worry about getting any of the female reproductive
organ cancers.
LITTLE DID I KNOW!
I don't have ovaries (and they were HEALTHY when
they were removed)! but I have what is essentially ovarian cancer.
Strange, isn't it?
These are just SOME of the things our Doctors never
tell us. ONE out of every 55 women will get OVARIAN or PRIMARY
PERITONEAL CANCER!
The "CLASSIC" symptoms are an ABDOMEN that SUDDENLY
ENLARGES and CONSTIPATION and/or DIARRHEA. I had these classic
symptoms and went to the Doctor.
Because these symptoms seemed to be "abdominal,"
I went to a gastro-enterologist. He ran tests that were designed
to determine whether there was a bacterial infection; these tests
were negative, and I was diagnosed with "Irritable Bowel Syndrome."
I guess I would have accepted this diagnosis had
it not been for my enlarged abdomen. I swear to you, it looked
like I was 4-5 months pregnant!
I therefore, insisted on more tests. They took
an X-ray of my abdomen; it was negative. I was, again, assured
that I had Irritable Bowel Syndrome and was encouraged to go on
my scheduled month-long trip to Europe.
I couldn't wear any of my slacks or shorts because
I couldn't get them buttoned, and I KNEW something was radically
wrong.
I INSISTED on more tests, and they (reluctantly)
scheduled me for a CT-Scan (just to shut me up, I think). This
is what I mean by taking charge of our own health care.
The CT-Scan showed a lot of fluid in my abdomen
(NOT normal!). Needless to say, I had to cancel my trip and have
FIVE POUNDS of fluid drawn off my abdomen at the hospital (not
a pleasant procedure, I assure you, but NOTHING compared to what
was ahead of me).
Tests revealed cancer cells in the fluid.
Finally, finally, finally, the Doctor ran a CA-125
blood test and I was properly diagnosed.
I had the classic symptoms for ovarian cancer;
this simple CA-125 blood test had never been run on me ... not
as part of my annual physical exam and not when I was symptomatic.
This is an inexpensive and simple blood test! Please,
please, p-l-e-a-s-e tell all your female friends and relatives
to insist on a CA-125 blood test every year as part of their annual
physical exams.
Be forewarned that their doctors might try to talk
them out of it, saying, "it isn't necessary."
Believe me, had I known then what I know now, we
would have caught my cancer much earlier (before it was a stage
3 cancer)!
Insist on the CA-125 blood test; don't take "no"
for an answer.
The normal range for a CA-125 blood test is between
zero and 35. mine was 754 (that's right, 754!)
If the number is slightly above, you can have another
one done in three or six months and keep a close eye on it just
like women do when they have fibroid tumors or when men have a
slightly elevated PSA test (prostate specific antigens) that helps
diagnose prostate cancer.
Having the CA-125 test done annually can alert
you early, and that's the goal in diagnosing any type of cancer
- catch it early.
I hope I haven't bored you with all of this. but
I hope I have scared you enough to motivate you to action.
Do you know 55 women? If so, at east one of them
will have this very aggressive cancer -- and maybe, just maybe,
it will be you. I hope not.
Please, go to your doctor this week and insist on
a CA-125 test and have one EVERY YEAR for the rest of your life.
And forward this message to every woman you know
and tell all of your female family members and friends.
This story can also be read online at: http://www.youngagainforever.com/newsletter6.html
As the Nike ads say, "JUST DO IT!"
Please don't think youth will protect you, either.
Though the median age for this cancer is 56 (and, guess what,
I'm exactly 56), women as young as 22 have it. Age is not a factor.
CONSIDER THIS A WAKE UP CALL. A CALL FOR OUR HEALTH!
CA-125 test is an ovarian screening test equivalent
to a man's PSA test-prostate screening (which most Dr.s automatically
give a man in his physical each year and insurance pays for).
This screening test that should be required just
like pap smear. (A pap smear cannot detect problems with your
ovaries)
This is what Gilda Radner had (Saturday Night Live..
remember?). Madelyn Kahn, too, died of the disease.
Gene Wilder and Pierce Brosnan (his wife had it,
too) are lobbying for women's health issues saying that this test
should be required in our physicals just like the pap and the
mammogram.
PLEASE pass this information along to every woman
you know.
Thank you.

******RECOMMENDATION******
Studies have found the effects of low-intensity
activities to be very favourable, although no one
kind of exercise can claim to be the best.
The Tibetan technique uses weight-bearing principles,
and is an amalgam of rhythmic exercise, yoga and
breath control. We consider it very effective in
addressing most of the ailments mentioned above.
It is the exercise regimen of choice for ourselves.

JUST LET GO!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As you choose to read this article, I'd like to
invite you to consider the investment in the past you've made
both financially and in terms of time in your personal development.
I chose to become a professional seeker. I've invested
years and thousands of dollars into seeking out the best way to
help others get everything out of life they want.
I love personal development, like Ted Williams
loved talking about hitting a baseball. It feeds my soul; it's
my passion. And as such, I've tried every program I could get
my hands on. Gleaning what worked and what didn't including everything
from Anthony Robbins to A Course in Miracles.
I set goals. I thought positive. I achieved results.
And, I continued to seek. Why?
To be honest, I might still be trying to figure
that question out but fortunately someone else discovered it for
me.
Lester Levenson, developer of the Sedona Method,
was a very successful man in material terms. And then his body
broke down at the age of 42. Doctors gave him months to live -
if he rested in his bed. But, Lester wasn't ready to give up.
And, so he began to look inside. How could someone so worldly
successful, feel so unsuccessful, unhappy and ill?
What Lester discovered was the ultimate goal everyone
seeks in life; Happiness without sorrow. Some seek it through
religion. Others seek it through material gain and worldly success.
And, still others seek it through their addictions or other self-defeating
habits.
You see, Lester discovered the key to happiness
is letting go of what we think will make us happy in order to
experience the power of NOW - and in so doing we are more able
to create what we really want in our life.
For example, imagine how you might feel if you
were going to play bigger than you have ever played before. Do
you feel a little nervous? A little anxious? A little fearful
of failure?
Why is that? Is it a lack of positive thinking?
Do you need to read another personal development book or need
more training? Probably not.
The key is the feelings you have attached to the
situation. And, the more you want something, the stronger the
feelings. And, sometimes - maybe even often times - those feelings
are so strong that we do nothing. And, then we may even feel bad
about ourselves for doing nothing, creating even more feelings.
Lester found the key is to be able to detach your
ego and your feelings to a state of what he called "hoot-less-ness".
When you can truly walk into that situation with a feeling of
peace and calm regardless of outcome, you have achieved mastery
over your mind. And, you are then free to create whatever you
want.
Could you achieve mastery over your mind by thinking
positive? Could you achieve mastery through using a technique
such as NLP? Quite possibly, but these techniques have limitations
- they are limited to one thought at time. And, only to those
thoughts we are conscious of.
By learning to release your feelings using the Sedona
Method, you will simultaneously "undo" the years of accumulated
thoughts - both conscious and subconscious - that you associate
with the feeling. Far more powerful. Far more effective.
Remember when I said Lester only had months left
to live? Well, Lester went on to live another amazing 42 years!
During the remainder of his life and since his work has reached
thousands of people world-wide, been proven effective by a Harvard
University study, endorsed by the likes of Mark Victor Hansen,
Deepak Chopra, Michael Gerber and many other notables of our time.
If you are ready to stop seeking and discover the
simple yet powerful secrets Lester did, then take a look at the
Sedona Method. The course comes with an unconditional money back
guarantee and phone support to help you achieve the biggest breakthroughs
of your life - whether they be lowering your stress level and
improving your health, creating the relationships you've always
dreamt of or earning whatever you want to earn.
